Collegian Nite celebrated
ITANAGAR, Dec 29: The collegians of East Kameng district comprising students from All East Kameng Capital Complex Students’ Welfare Association (AEKCCSWA), West Kameng Nyishi Students’ Welfare Association (WKNSWA) and Degree College Seppa celebrated the XVIIIth Collegians Nite at Govt. Higher Secondary School auditorium, East Kameng yesterday.
A large number of students, including collegians studying out side the state joined the celebration.
Various literary events, like debate and extempore speech were organized on the occasion.

DA to carryout checking drive
ITANAGAR, Dec 29: A large number of fake inner line permits (ILPs) have been detected and recovered by Banderdewa Police with help of CRPF at Banderdewa check gate.
According to police, a total of 703 fake ILPs, both permanent and temporary, using the seal and stamp with forged signature of issuing authority of Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex, Deputy Commissioner, Yupia Papum Pare and Under Secretary (political), Govt of Arunachal, Itanagar were detected and seized by Banderdewa Police led by OC Banderdewa Police Station SI K Dev.
Two persons, namely Md Abul Kalam and Abdul Kasam of Fatehpur under Bihpuria Police station, Lakhimpur, Assam have been arrested in this connection and later they were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate, Itanagar CapitaL Complex, Itanagar. Both the persons have been remanded to four days police custody for further investigation.
A massive search operation has been launched to detect more fake ILPs in Capital Complex as well as to nab other culprits involved in making and sale of fake ILPs.
“Any person found with fake ILPs in the Capital Complex Itanagar will be dealt strictly as per law”.
Superintendent of Police (City) Surendra Kumar informed that two persons, namely Md Hananuddin and Md Abu Hanifa have already been arrested from Assam by Banderdewa Police in connection with Banderdewa PS case no 04/2011 u/s 468/471/473/34 IPC and PS case no 17/2011 u/s 468/471/473 IPC for making and selling fake ILPs.

Tuki, APMCC mourn death of rape victim
ITANAGAR, Dec 29: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki joined the nation in mourning the death
of 23-
In a statement this evening, Tuki said the news came as a shock as the whole country was praying for her recovery.
“This is really saddening. My heart goes out for the brave girl and her family members, particularly the parents who had pinned high hopes on her like in every family,” he said.
Echoing millions, including President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Tuki reiterated that her death should not go in vain.

As the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Tuki vowed that similar incidents that violate the rights of women or their modesty will not be tolerated in his state.
“We will not tolerate any crime – petty or major – against women in our state. Any women related offence will be dealt under stringent laws and offenders will not be spared in any case,” he added in the statement.

APMCC praised the courage of poor girl who was fighting for life after gruesome rape in running bus in Delhi recently. In its condolence message, Pradesh Congress Mahila committee said that stringent punishment should be given to culprits involved in rape and justice should be delivered.
One charred to death in fire mishap
PASIGHAT, Dec 29: Tokom Koyu of Koyu village under East Siang district was burnt
to death in a massive house-
Reportedly, neighbors rushed to the scene by braving the chill weather to douse the blaze but failed to save the life and properties of Koyu. The devastating fire destroyed all household items including other properties and body of Koyu was found beyond recognition. Koyu, 78, is survived by his three sons and one daughter.
Meanwhile, local MLA Tako Dabii expressed deep shock over the tragic demise of Koyu and prayed to almighty to rest his soul in eternal peace and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear the loss.
On receiving information, Deputy Commissioner RK Mishra announced Rs. 2,000 as immediate relief to the affected family. He directed the Koyu EAC to asses the losses enabling the administration to forward the report to the government to extend all possible help to the victims in future. He also informed that police launched investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the fire.
BCC President Takir Kakki, ASM Jiryum Kakki along with OC Nari today visited the spot and took stock of the situation.
Meanwhile, Ramle Banggo Welfare Society has deeply mourned the sad demise of Tokom and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Tokom was loved and appreciated by all for his simplicity and generous nature, RBWS said in a condolence message and conveyed its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

A strong peace committee with the prominent community leaders from both states should be constituted for taking up the sensitive issues. APB&OCWWB empowers labour class
TAWANG, Dec 29: Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB), Tawang organized a one day free Medical Camp at remote Zemithang village here today.

Free medicine and health check up were provided to more than 200 villagers, of whom a majority makes a living by working as labourers in local Construction firms and Border Road Organization (BRO).
Speaking to the Registering Officer Tawang informed that any worker who is above the age of 18 years but has not completed 60 years and has been engaged in building or any other construction works for not less than 90 days during the proceeding 12 months, however who is not enrolled in any welfare fund is eligible for registration in the Board beneficiary by paying an initial registration fee of Rs. 25. And subsequently the registered worker has to contribute a negligible sum of Rs 20 per month towards the fund to avail various benefits such as Housing Loan of Rs. 50,000, Maternity Assistance, Life Cover, Funeral Assistance and Disability Pension of Rs. 150 per month. In order to cater the very basic need of labourers the Board also provides benefit such as Tool Advance and Medical Assistance of Rs. 5,000 each and Education Assistance of Rs. 50,000 and etc. CO Zemithang, Labour Union President, Panchayat members, Senior Medical Officer Lumla and a Doctor from Bhiwara Energy Ltd attended and assisted in successful conduct of the health camp along with the officers of APB&OCWWB.
